Daily Cal: City Councilmember Jesse Arreguin Releases Official Announcement for Mayoral Run in Berkeley
With more than a year remaining before Berkeley voters take to the polls to elect the city’s next mayor, on Thursday morning, City Councilmember Jesse Arreguin became the first to announce his intent to run.
In an interview Thursday, Arreguin said he wants to "bring our city together and get results," working to "move Berkeley into the 21st Century" by modernizing city government and providing "better customer service." He said he will run a grass-roots campaign and that his platform, details of which he plans to put out soon, will focus on "the (housing) affordability crisis that has had a transformative effect on our city," among other issues.
